What is LocalBee?
LocalBee is a free, community directory of local businesses, organizations, and events. No ads. No algorithm. No account required to browse.
It's built around one idea: people should be able to find out what's happening in their community without fighting through a social media feed, guessing whether a listing is accurate, or hitting a paywall.
Why does this exist when there's already Facebook, Google, and everything else?
Fair question. Here's the honest answer.
Facebook is great for staying connected with people you know. It's not great for finding out if the hardware store is open on Saturday, or what events are happening downtown next weekend — not without an account, not without the algorithm deciding what you see, and not without ads mixed into everything.
Google knows a lot about big cities. For smaller communities, listings are often outdated, unclaimed, or just wrong. And the businesses that show up first aren't necessarily the best ones — they're the ones that paid to be there.
Other local sites either haven't been updated in years, require you to create yet another account, or are built around advertising rather than accuracy.
LocalBee is different because it's built for a specific community and maintained by people who know it. The goal isn't engagement — it's accuracy.
Who is it for?
Residents and visitors
Browse events, find businesses, check hours, and discover what's happening near you. No account needed, ever.
Local businesses and organizations
Claim your free listing, keep your information up to date, and connect with your community. Premium features are available for organizations that want to post events, run specials, add photos, and do more.
Community admins
Local volunteers who review listings and keep the directory accurate for their area.
How do I use it?
Finding businesses
Use the directoryto browse or search local businesses and organizations. Filter by category, distance, or whether they're open right now. Click any listing for full details — hours, contact info, location, and upcoming events.
Finding events
The events pageshows everything coming up in your area. Filter by category or date, or search by keyword. Mark events you're interested in to get a reminder the day before.
For businesses and organizations
If your business is already listed, you can claim it and take ownership of the information. If it's not listed yet, you can add it. Basic listings are always free. Premium plans unlock event posting, specials, photos, and more.
Creating an account
You don't need an account to browse or find businesses. An account lets you save events you're interested in, follow organizations, and receive a weekly digest of what's happening in your community. It's free and always will be.
